Ajudá

Ajudá was the capital of the Sahé (or Savi) kingdom until 1727 .

When Sahé was incorporated into the Kingdom of Dahomey in 1728 , the city was renamed to the current name Ouidah , which goes back to the nearby fortress " São João Baptista d'Ajudá ", built in 1721 .
