The Academy for the White Deer Grotto ( Chinese  白鹿洞 书院 , Pinyin Báilù dòng shūyuàn , W.-G. Pai-lu-tung shu-yüan , English White Deer Cave Academy / White Deer Grotto Academy or 白鹿书院 , Báilù shūyuàn ) or Bailudong Academy in the Lu Shan Mountains is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Lushan in the independent city ​​of Jiujiang in the southern Chinese province of Jiangxi .

It was the most famous of the Four Great Academies of Ancient China, and it was held in high regard in Chinese educational history. Li Bo (773-831), the famous scholar from the time of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), studied and lived at the now well-preserved academy . The academy was revived and expanded by Zhu Xi (1130-1200), the scholar of Neoconfucianism , during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It enjoyed the fame of an important educational center in ancient Chinese culture for several centuries.

It has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (3–74) since 1988 .
