The Akdeğirm dam ( Turkish Akdeğirmen Barajı ) is located 30 km west of the provincial capital Afyonkarahisar in the province of the same name .
The Akdeğirm dam was built in the years 1998-2009 3.5 km above the village of Ayvalı on the upper reaches of the Akarçay (also Bacak Deresi or Nacak Çayı ). It is used to supply drinking water and to irrigate an area of 8552 ha. The barrier structure is a 34.5 m high embankment dam . The dam volume is 1,200,000 m³. The reservoir covers an area of 6 km² with normal damming. The storage space is 50 million m³. The village of Düzağaç in the Sinanpaşa district is located on the southern bank of the reservoir .
