Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz (Radebeul)

The Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz is an inner-city jewelery square in the Niederlößnitz district of the Saxon city of Radebeul . The former Niederlößnitz town hall is located on it .

Development

A large part of the buildings surrounding the square are protected as cultural monuments , the former town hall even since GDR times . Today's monuments can be found in the list of cultural monuments in Radebeul-Niederlößnitz (M – Z) or (A – L) and the list of cultural monuments in Radebeul-Kötzschenbroda :

The VVN monument to the victims of fascism is located on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz .

Naming

In 1885 the newly created square was named Königsplatz ; after the construction of the town hall, it was laid out in a representative way. This then became Magdalenenplatz and in 1939 it was renamed Ludendorffplatz .

In 1945 the square was named Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz , which it still bears today.
