Marking of monuments in the GDR

The list of monuments of cultural history in Radebeul contains the listed buildings in the Saxon city of Radebeul during the GDR era . The listing takes into account the list of monuments of the city of Radebeul from 1973 as well as the list of the monuments of the cultural history in Radebeul from 1979, part of the district monuments list of the district Dresden-Land . The origin of the entry is indicated in the comment column by the corresponding year date. An excerpt of the architectural monuments from 1973 is also listed in Volume 22 of the values ​​of our homeland with the name Lössnitz and Moritzburger Teichlandschaft .

In comparison to today's Radebeul cultural monuments , this list allows two conclusions:

• If the building is a cultural monument today, it has been so since at least 1973 or 1979, i.e. it was placed under monument protection during the GDR era or even earlier .
• If the building is not a cultural monument today, this status has been revoked in the meantime, although it was still in effect during the GDR era and usually also at the beginning of the post-reunification period.

The final list in the city regulations of 1973 also includes the assigned value group (WG), with WG I representing the highest value and WG IV the lowest value. Objects in WG I were definitely considered worthy of protection within the framework of monument protection in the GDR , while classification in WG IV meant little more than if the object was not under monument protection.

In 1989 there was a draft for the revision of the district monument list from 1979 with numerous deletions, new additions, additions, corrections and clarifications, without this being implemented during GDR times. As a result of the change that followed , the GDR Monument Preservation Act in accordance with Article 9, Paragraph 1 of the Unification Treaty continued to exist in the area of ​​the states with restrictions as state law until a corresponding state legislation was passed. The existing considerations for the further development of the 1979 list of monuments were replaced by the new Saxon monument protection legislation ( Saxon Monument Protection Act of March 3, 1993) emerging in the early 1990s . On the basis of this, in the first half of the 1990s a rapid entry list was created for the Radebeul area, which listed around 1400 monuments and placed them under protection. The person of the local preservationist, the former chairman of the Active for Monument Preservation, ensured continuity . With the creation of the quick entry list, the evaluation of the registered objects for their monument value began with the consequence of the possible deletion as well as the inclusion of further cultural monuments, which led to the current cultural monument list with around 1635 objects under 1275 addresses as of 2012.
