Live and act

Carl Käfer's tomb

Käfer opened his architecture office in the original district of Radebeul around 1890 in the centrally located residential and commercial building at Sidonienstraße 1 / corner of Hauptstraße , which was demolished in October 2011 despite being a listed building , which was built in 1889/1890 by the Ziller brothers for Käfer's father-in-law near the Radebeul train station . From 1890 to 1899, Käfer also ran the station hotel for his father-in-law Adolph Herrmann, which was two doors down and right next to the train station .

Käfer was one of the “most productive architects of the Loessnitz ”. In addition to his largest public project, the design of the Pestalozzi School together with the gym of the neighboring elementary school in 1896, Käfer mainly specialized in villas , rental villas and country houses . Many "smaller" construction companies or master craftsmen had Käfer design their construction plans, which they then implemented themselves. In the case of designs for private individuals, Käfer also had some of the buildings realized by local "large" construction companies such as the Ziller brothers or FW Eisold .

After his death in 1910, Käfer was buried in the Radebeul-Ost cemetery.
