description

The current appearance of the building is mainly due to a fundamental renovation from around 1900 by the architect Carl Käfer . The main house is a two-story, plastered building with a heavily developed attic, which is composed of mansard and half-hip roofs .

To the south there is an arbor over a ground floor-high substructure, this has a flat hipped roof with acroters . Parallel to the Lößnitzbach there is a two-storey, plastered outbuilding from the late 19th century with a flat sloping roof.

history

The first mention of the Grundmühle took place in 1461 as “Mill basically under Wahnsdorf ”; it was one of the watermills on the Lößnitzbach . From 1872 a bakery and a restaurant were operated there, which still exist today. In 1908 the operation of the mill was switched to steam operation and shut down in 1944 or 1973.

Today the former ground mill is a listed building .
