Buschmühle (Hagen)
The Buschmühle is a former water mill and today's run-of-river power plant in Hagen - Garenfeld .
history
The first documented mention of the Buschmühle can be dated to 1507. At that time the mill belonged to the nearby Busch House , the seat of the Syberg zum Busche family . With the compulsory meal , the farmers involved were obliged to have their grain milled in this mill. Around the year 1700 a mansion was built next to the mill, as was a bridge over the Lenne. In 1810 the ownership of the Busch house and the mill changed through marriage to Ludwig von Vincke . The servants of the other von Vincke'schen possessions in Hagen were also accommodated in the Mühlenhof. In 1846 the mill was expanded to include a flour and pearl barley factory.
The old mill building burned out around 1900. Instead, the building above the Lenne, which still exists today, was erected in 1901 as a grinding mill . This is where wood pulp was produced for the paper mill founded in 1896 in the neighboring cable . In 1925 the water rights to build a weir system were granted.
The mill stopped operating in the mid-1950s, after which it stood empty for a long time. The old mill, converted as a run-of-river power plant, has been in operation again since the 1980s.
In addition to the actual mill building, the complex, which is under monument protection, also includes a residential and office building as well as a semi-detached brick house.
