The Vormann brewery has been working in Hagen-Dahl since 1877 and is now part of the Route of Industrial Culture .
history
On October 1, 1877, the founder of the brewery, Eduard Vormann, initially leased the Friedrich Funksche Brewery in Dahl, which has been documented since 1718 and which also had a restaurant. The brewery bar has been located at Dahler Straße 61 since 1882, with the brewery directly behind it.
In 1888 Eduard Vormann bought the brewery property and initially had fermentation, storage and ice cellars built (House Eiskeller 9). In the years after 1896, the brewhouse , a machine house to operate a steam engine for ice making and other systems for stick ice production were built . Furthermore, a barrel bottling facility was built to the right of the brewhouse, and a half-timbered building to the left to store coal for the steam engine. The wort cooling is located there today. The tallest building, the Malzboden, dates back to 1952, and a fourth fermentation cellar was built in 1954.
present
Today the brewery produces various beer specialties in addition to Pils and Altbier, including the award-winning “Sauerland Wheat Beer” and the “Dahler Urbräu”. In addition, successful beers from smaller breweries were produced and bottled at Vormann:
- IPAs and other FritzAle branded beers
- Prototype of the creative brewery Kehrwieder from Hamburg
- Pumpernickel porter from the Gruthaus brewery in Münster
Others
The brewery is a member of the Brauring , a cooperation between private breweries from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
