Villa Bönnhoff
The Villa Bönnhoff is a listed entrepreneur villa in Wetter an der Ruhr. The building is located on Kaiserstraße in Alt-Wetter a short distance from the Bönnhoff manufacturing facilities on a hillside with a view of the Ruhr valley . It is a location on the Route of Industrial Heritage .
history
The villa was built in 1901 and 1902 for the foundry owner Carl Bönnhoff according to plans by the Elberfeld architect Rudolf Plies .
After the Second World War , the building was used by the British Army and later became the property of the city. Between 1976 and 2007 the city of Wetter ran a youth center here .
In 1984 the villa was registered as architectural monument No. 26 in the monument list of Wetter .
In 2007 the building was sold to a private investor who extensively restored the villa and has been running a café since 2009, which also hosts cultural events such as readings and exhibitions.
