The water station in Mülheim an der Ruhr is a landing stage for the White Fleet . The water station is located on the lock island of the Ruhr lock Mülheim , on which the Ruhrnatur House is also located.

The water station was built in 1927 as a small drinking hall according to plans by the architects Pfeifer and Großmann for the passengers of the Ruhrschifffahrt directly below the Ruhrschleuse. Since it was built, it has served as a departure point for the ships of the Mülheim White Fleet . In the following years, while the number of passengers rose steadily, it was rebuilt and enlarged several times.

In 1945 the water station was occupied by the British occupying forces and used as a casino . After it was released in 1949, it again took on its additional role as a restaurant on Schleuseninsel.

As a special attraction, a flower clock was laid out in front of the water station in 1953 .

In 1975 a major fire caused considerable damage to and in the building.

The water station is part of the route of industrial culture (theme route 12 - past and present of the Ruhr and theme route 14 - canals and shipping ).
