Haus Küchen is a historic entrepreneurial villa in the Uhlenhorst forest area between Mülheim an der Ruhr and Duisburg .

The country house was built in 1913 by the Commerce Councilor Gerhard Küchen , a grandson of Mathias Stinnes . The country house was built according to plans by the Mannheim architect Rudolf Tillessen .

The three-storey, transverse main building has a floor space of 3800 m². On the ground floor, around a vaulted corridor, there are a number of the representative rooms that were common at the time: hall, master's room, salon, music room and dining room. These rooms are still in their original state today. The utility wing is arranged slightly offset behind the tower and has its own staff entrance.

After the Second World War, Haus Küchen, known as "Haus Kreutzberg", was the seat of the British High Commissioner in the Rhineland. It was then used from 1952 by the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland , which converted the building into the Academy House of Encounter . The winter garden built in the former rose garden, the chapel and the hall on the narrow side of the building date from this time.

From 2003 the building stood empty and was acquired by Teutonia Grundbesitz AG in 2006, restored and operated as a hotel and restaurant Residenz Uhlenhorst until the end of 2015 . In the meantime, the use has been changed again. Apartments are to be rented here in the future. Luxury apartments and single-family houses are also being built on the spacious site, and the historic coach house will also be restored from 2016.
