The Pauenhof Tractor Museum in Sonsbeck was born out of a passion of farmer Johannes Troost for these vehicles. In 10 halls with an exhibition area of 5000 m² it houses the largest collection of tractors and agricultural machines in Germany. Including rare specimens that were only produced in small numbers by rather unknown companies.

You can drive a tractor yourself and take part in an obstacle course on the farm.

What once began as a farmer's private collection is now part of the Route of Industrial Culture - Theme Route 21 - Bread, Grain and Beer .

The Pauenhof

Old Fordson from 1927

The homestead at Balberger Straße 72 has a long history. It was first mentioned on maps from the 12th century. Until 1969 it was a completely normal farm where cows, pigs, chickens and horses were kept. After that, they specialized in piglet rearing , which was continued until 1988. In the 1960s Johannes Troost developed 4 federal patents and 8 utility models in the agricultural machinery industry.

The passion for collecting historical and rare agricultural machines was awakened in 1976 by an old Hanomag that Johannes Troost saved from being scrapped. By the time the museum opened in 1990, the vintage machine park had grown to 120 tractors and was then supplemented with old agricultural machinery. These are wheel to wheel in the former pig rearing stables.

In 1999 the power system electronics technician Norbert Stapper took over the management of the museum and has been taking care of the maintenance of the machines ever since. Here and there he still finds a rare piece that fits into the exhibition. At the same time, the Pauenhof was expanded into a leisure facility and offers, in addition to tractor driving and hayloft overnight stays, a bike rental. A restaurant and the barbecue area provide for the physical well-being at events, club meetings and family celebrations.
