Meili was a Swiss tractor brand. The automotive company Ernst Meili tractor factory and later E. Meili Automotive AG made from the 1930s to the 1960s (or 1970s?) Years tractors .

history

The E. Meili tractor factory was founded in 1934 by Ernst Meili in Schaffhausen (Switzerland). Tractors with steel claw wheels and rear axles developed in-house were in great demand in the 1930s. From around 1938 self-developed wood gasifiers were installed. Spring steel wheels to replace rubber tires were patented and built. In 1950, 30 "Hercules" tractors went to South Africa. In 1959 the Agromobile was presented.

In 1964 the company was relocated to Schübelbach and renamed E. Meili Fahrzeugbau AG (about 70 employees at that time). In 1966 the 7000th tractor was produced.

In the 1970s, the family business ran into economic difficulties. In 1984 production was finally stopped and the factory premises in Schübelbach were sold.

Viktor Meili, one of the founder's three sons, had founded V. Meili AG for constructions and special vehicles as a separate company in 1974 . This company mainly produced all-wheel drive and tracked vehicles. In 2001, V. Meili AG acquired the former E. Meili properties in Schübelbach. Since 2002 municipal vehicles (compact transporters / equipment carriers), snow blowers, Pister, road-rail vehicles and the like have been used there. a. in series as well as special vehicles manufactured according to customer requirements under the brand name V Meili .
