Bührer (tractors)
The Bührer tractor factory AG is a Swiss manufacturer of tractors based in Hinwil .
In 1927, the farmer's son and car mechanic Fritz Bührer (1896–1974) took over the Ford representation of his master in Frauenfeld . In 1929, he manufactured his first tractors from parts of a damaged Ford car . Real small tractors were already being manufactured from 1930. They were tractors with pneumatic tires with rear twin tires marked as off-road tires and an engine output of up to 40 hp, which were built until around 1936. In 1939 he acquired the vacant factory of Maschinenfabrik AG Hinwil in Hinwil. After the Second World War , from 1950/51 the Bührer tractors were divided into three performance classes. Bührer supplied vehicles for small, medium and large companies - tractors for every purpose. In 1958, foreign tractors were registered in Switzerland, which slowly led to the decline of the tractor company. In 1964 the Bührer company was converted into a stock corporation. In 1973 it was sold to the Rapid company. In 1974 Fritz Bührer died. In 1979 the Bührer company was taken over by the Mägerle family, who are still the owners of this company today.
