Many of the buildings erected or designed by Sommer are now listed buildings . Sommer signed some plans as early as 1902 when he worked as an employee of Adolf Neumann (1852–1920) in his architectural office.

On November 5, 1908, Sommer took over the construction business from Adolf Neumann ( Wilhelm-Busch-Straße 11 ). In 1909/1910 he then built a rental villa ( Wilhelm-Busch-Straße 16 ) on a building plot opposite that belonged to the company , in which he also lived.

Felix Sommer was buried in the Radebeul-West cemetery.

In May 2011 the Radebeul City Archives received large parts of the summer estate.
