Radebeul City Archives

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Radebeul City Archive is a municipal archive . It secures the historical tradition of the Saxon city of Radebeul and its predecessor communities. The scope of the collection goes from the 17th century to the present day. The oldest document, however, is a document from 1470. The city archive has been located in Wasastraße 50 in the Serkowitz district since 2014 ; previously it had been in the nearby Albertschlösschen since 1991 .

history

In 1958 the first full-time archivist , the retired city councilor of the SPD, vocational school director and cultural department head Paul Brüll (1892–1983), was hired in Radebeul to sift through the files dating back to the 17th century and for the first time with a finding aid to be systematically developed. From September 1960 these holdings were housed in the basement of the Heimattreue building at Lößnitzgrundstrasse 16.

After Brüll's departure in 1975, it was not until 1981 that Liselotte Closer (1918–2004) took care of the holdings full-time. Their task was initially to save them from further deterioration. Due to the poor conditions at the storage location, a move was overdue. This happened in 1990/1991 when the archive was relocated to the Albertschlösschen. There it had been under the care of the trained archivist Annette Karnatz since Closer left. After the renovation of the Albertschlösschen between 1994 and 1996 and the improvement of the technical equipment, the city archive was able to reopen its doors to the public in March 1996. Since then, further indexing of the holdings has been carried out with the AUGIAS archive software .

In the beginning, mainly questions about the clarification of open property questions had to be answered, but today there are many regional and family historical connections to be determined.

In addition to a reference library and a regional history collection on the Lößnitz villages, there is also an almost complete collection of the local daily press. These are the Kötzschenbrodaer Zeitung from 1865 to 1941, the Radebeuler Tageblatt from 1896 to 1943 and the regional edition of the Sächsische Zeitung since 1945.

In 2005 and 2006 (2nd edition) the city archives published the Radebeul city lexicon for the city of Radebeul .
