Akihiro Tabata ( Japanese 田 畑 昭 宏 , Tabata Akihiro ; born May 15, 1978 in Saitama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Tabata learned to play soccer on the school team at Seibudai High School . He signed his first contract with Urawa Reds in 1997 . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . At the end of the 1999 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League . In 2000 he was runner-up in the J2 League with the club and was promoted to the J1 League. For the club he completed 24 first division games. In June 2001 he moved to league rivals JEF United Ichihara . For the club he completed eight first division games. In 2003 he moved to the second division Consadole Sapporo . For the club he completed 77 games. At the end of 2005 he ended his career as a soccer player.
