Akin Island (English; Bulgarian остров Акин ostrow Akin ) is a south-east-northwest orientation 280 m long and 100 m wide rocky island off the north coast of Nelson Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 2.35 km west-northwest of Cariz Point , 2.02 km north-northeast of Baklan Point , 2.14 km east-northeast of Withem Island , 1.12 km south of Nancy Rock and 100 m north-northeast of Fregata Island .
British scientists mapped it in 1968. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2018 after a headland on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast .
