AGA Gas AB (formerly Aktiebolaget Gas-Accumulator ) is a Swedish company that has been part of the Linde Group since 2000 . The activities of AGA Austria were taken over in 2001 by the Air Liquide Group.

AGA was founded in 1904 and took over a small factory for acetylene production in Stockholm . In 1912 modern factories were built on Lidingö . In 1904, AGA hired the later Nobel Prize winner Gustaf Dalén as chief engineer. In the years to come, AGA, under the direction of Dalén, developed a lighting system for lighthouses ( AGA-Fyren ) based on gas and new gas containers (with Agamassan filling compound for acetylene ). Based on this, optical signaling systems were developed for railways and road and air traffic, and later also acoustic signaling systems and marine beacons . Dalén also developed a gas range, the AGA range . AGA was also one of the most important manufacturers of radio and television sets in Sweden.

At the beginning of the 1970s one began to concentrate on the original core area again. In 1971 the radio and television division was sold to Philips , and in 1980 the medical-technical division was sold. In 1980, the mechanical engineering and instrument building division was also transferred to the newly founded Pharos company , whose stake was sold two years later.

Today AGA Gas AB mainly produces industrial gases for different areas (for example the food industry, medical gases , refrigeration technology, welding , etc.) and has 650 employees. It still has its factories on Lidingö and its main office in Sundbyberg near Stockholm.

AGA's gas trade in Austria changed its name to Air Liquide a few years ago .
