organization structure

The association is divided into a federal association with a federal executive board as well as state and regional associations, whose regional focus is Bavaria , Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia . The youth organization “Youth for Life” is affiliated with it. ALfA is a member of the umbrella organization Bundesverband Lebensrecht (BVL).

The federal chairwoman has been Cornelia Kaminski since May 2019. Before that, she was chairwoman of the Hesse State Association of Christian Democrats for Life . Her younger sister Claudia Kaminski was chairwoman of the campaign for the right to live for all from 1996 to 2016 and, independently of that, she was on the foundation board of the Yes to Life Foundation for many years . In 2001, the doctor Claudia Kaminski was also a founding member of the Bundesverband Lebensrecht , whose chairwoman she was until 2009. In 2016, Alexandra Maria Linder became federal chairwoman of the ALfA after Claudia Kaminski no longer stood for election. Cornelia Kaminski from Fulda was Deputy Federal Chairwoman during this time. The first deputy federal chairman is Holm Schneider . Further members of the Executive Board since 2016 have been Hans-Peter Reiche (Federal Treasurer) and Maria Schmölzing (Federal Secretary).

Criticism of positions

In its information material, the association takes the view that abortion leads to the so-called post-abortion syndrome . According to their own information, 80% of women who have had an abortion are affected by this clinical picture, and according to the former chairwoman of the BVL, Claudia Kaminski, there are "hundreds of thousands, if not millions of traumatized women". The "post-abortion syndrome" is not recognized by the majority of medical professionals: A systematic review by the American Psychological Association , which examined all studies on post-abortion syndrome published in English since 1989, shows that the risk for the The occurrence of psychological problems in women after an abortion is no greater than in women who carry their child to term after an unwanted pregnancy.

However, there are also scientific studies that support the ALfA's position. The American Psychological Association itself published a catalog of 17 risk factors associated with abortion in 2008.
