history

Under the direction of director Martin Gruber, the action theater ensemble has worked on classics for years, such as the Büchner trilogy in 1993 and 1994. The ensemble quickly achieved the reputation of an "avant-garde group eager to experiment".

Over time, the director Gruber began to work increasingly with choreographers and dancers. Finally, in 2008 the working method of the action theater ensemble changed completely: instead of prefabricated theater material, own pieces were developed from now on. A special focus of this work is on the collaboration with musicians and visual artists.

Since this break with classical theater material, the ensemble has been known for reflecting on the present particularly quickly. In principle, the pieces deal with topics that deal with contemporary people. It has become the group's paradigm to develop plays without a plot. The pieces result from a combination of interviews with actors and author's texts, which are built into a collage-like dramaturgy in the rehearsal process. With this way of working, the ensemble approaches contemporary documentary theater, but the focus is on the poetic condensation of reality.
