The Akzo Nobel Coatings in Stuttgart-Feuerbach resident and produced coatings by the end of April 2020. The company operated until 1957 under the name Lechler Paints and is now part of the Dutch Akzo-Nobel Corporation. The company operates as a GmbH .

history

The company was founded in 1851 by the pharmacist Cristian Lechler, who set up a paint and varnish factory in Mannheim, but soon moved to Feuerbach near Stuttgart . In 1879 the company was renamed " Paul Lechler , Stuttgart".

The company has been part of the Akzo Nobel Group since 1954 and operates under the name "Akzo Nobel Coatings". The company is represented at the Stuttgart location with its own brands LEVIS , LESONAL and SIKKENS . In 1994, 1,500 people were employed at the Stuttgart location, but the number of employees was halved by the sale of part of the company in the same year. After the production of mass-produced articles was relocated to Spain in 2001, around 350 people are employed at the Stuttgart location today (as of 2007). The total number of employees in Germany is around 2300.
