Alabama 3 or A3 for short is a British music group that was founded in Brixton in 1996 .

The style electronica can be roughly assigned, but influences from blues , country , folk and gospel are also decisive . A3 about: We make Sweet Pretty Muthafuckin Country Acid House Music. All night long. The band's best-known song is Woke Up This Morning from 1997, which was used as the theme song for the American television series The Sopranos .

Although Woke up this morning as the theme song of the Sopranos has made the band known far beyond Great Britain, it is ironic that of all things a song about domestic violence and women's rights (she ultimately shoots her husband who has been abusing her for 20 years) at the beginning of everyone of 86 episodes is played, in which it is mainly about the essence of the Mafia, namely to impose their will on others, regardless of the means.
