Karkaar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karkaar or Karkar is an administrative region of the de facto autonomous Puntland on the coast of the Indian Ocean in northeast Somalia .

The name is derived from the Karkaar Mountains , a chain of rugged mountains in northeast Somalia that runs from west to east through the Bari region and roughly forms the border with the Bari region in the north.

The region is divided into three districts around the towns of Bandarbeyla , Hafun and Qardho .

In the administrative division of Somalia , the Karkaar area still belongs to the Bari region .
