Galguduud ( Arabic غالغدود Ghālghudūd ) is a region ( gobolka ) in central Somalia. Its capital is Dhuusamarreeb . The Galguduud region borders Ethiopia to the westand the Indian Ocean to the east. The northern neighboring region is Mudug , the southern regions Hiiraan and Shabeellaha Dhexe .

Galguduud consists of the districts Abudwak (Caabudwaaq), Adaado (Cadaado), El Buur (Ceelbuur), Eldheere and Dhuusamarreeb. The region is known for the mining that is practiced here; from the sepiolite found here , u. a. the Dabqaad, which is widespread in the Somali region . The population in Galguduud mainly belongs to the Somali - clans of the Hawiye and Darod on. In 2006 Sa'ad-Habar Gidir-Hawiye proclaimed their own state of Galmudug in Galguduud and Mudug .
