Hiiraan ( Arabic هيران Hīrān ) is a region ( gobolka ) in central Somalia . Their capital is Beledweyne .

geography

Hiiraan is bordered to the north by the Somali region in Ethiopia and the Somali region of Galguduud , to the south by the Shabeellaha Dhexe and Shabeellaha Hoose regions and to the west by the Bay and Bakool regions .

The Shabeelle River flows through the region coming from Ethiopia.

Other cities besides Beledweyne are Buulobarde , Baalcad and Jalalaqsi .

Hiiraan has over 500,000 residents. These are mostly the Somali - clan of Hawiye to, besides also are Rahanweyn , Darod and the ethnic minority Makanne represented.
