The Alabama State Route 36 (abbreviated AL 36 ) is a state highway in the US state of Alabama , the West-East direction is in.
The State Route begins on Alabama State Route 33 in Wren and ends 58 kilometers east of Lacey's Spring on US Highway 231 .

The road heads east from Wren and joins Alabama State Route 157 in Speake . In the center of Hartselle it is crossed by US Highway 31 and passes Interstate 65 east of the city . From the cross with State Route 67 in Stringer , the AL 36 runs northeast until it ends east of Lacey's Spring on US 231.
history
Alabama State Route 36 originally opened between Courtland and Double Springs in 1940 . After 17 years the route was assigned to State Route 33 and in the same year the section between Wren and Lacey's Spring was awarded number 36. This assignment is still current.
