The Alabama State Route 47 (abbreviated AL 47 ) is a state highway in the US state of Alabama , the South-North direction is in.

The State Route begins on US Highway 84 in Mexia and ends in Awin on Alabama State Route 10 .

From the Mexia it leads east to Monroeville . From there it runs along with Alabama State Route 21 about 21 miles north to the city of Beatrice . After a cross with Alabama State Route 265 , they continue east until they part again in Riley . The AL 21 continues north and later ends in Montgomery . The AL 47 crosses Midway and then ends in Awin.

history

The first section of Alabama State Route 47 between Arwin and Monroeville opened in 1940. In 1957 it was extended by another section from Monroeville to Mexia and has not changed its course since then.
