Alabama and Florida Railroad (1898-1900)

Alabama and Florida Railroad was an American railroad company based in Alabama and Florida .

The company was founded on August 23, 1898 and received the concession to build a 125-kilometer railway line from Georgiana (Alabama) to Geneva (Alabama) . In June 1900, the line to Andalusia (Alabama) and by October of the same year to Geneva was completed. In Georgiana there was a connection to the route network of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad.

The Louisville and Nashville Railroad acquired the entire stock. The company leased the railroad from January 19, 1900 for 20 years and took over the Alabama and Florida Railroad on December 17, 1900. The share capital was 750,000 US dollars . The fixed assets consisted of the railroad track ($ 364,000) and equipment ($ 486,095). The company had two locomotives, a passenger car, a baggage car and 15 freight cars.

After taking over the company, L&N expanded the railway line by 37 kilometers to Graceville (Florida) . Commissioning took place on July 13, 1902.

President of the company was RL More from River Falls, Florida . After the takeover by L&N Milton H. Smith , its president.
