Alain Joxe

Alain Joxe (born January 18, 1931 in Paris ) is a French sociologist .

Live and act

Joxe was the older son of the politician Louis Joxe and his wife Françoise-Hélène Halévy. On his mother's side, he was the grandson of the writer Daniel Halévy and the politician Pierre Joxe was his younger brother.

Joxe was married to the writer Françoise Mallet-Joris for some time .

The École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) appointed him their Directeur d'Études and as such he was instrumental in founding the Center Interdisciplinaire de Recherches sur la Paix et d'Études (CIRPES). Later he was also appointed to its board of directors. When the Russell Tribunal on Palestine began operating on March 4, 2009, Joxe and others took the patronage.
