Lists on the subject

The Alamang , also called Sonri , is a sword from Indonesia.

description

The Alamang has a straight, single-edged blade. The blades are usually made of simple steel, but are also made of Pamor steel (similar to Damascus steel ). The back and the cutting edge run the same width to the place . The place is rounded. The handle is made of wood or horn and the pommel is carved in various ways. There are different versions of the booklet. In some versions, a metal clamp is attached to the transition from the handle to the blade , which is used to better secure the handle and the blade. The scabbards are made of wood and are wrapped with rattan cords or provided with metal bands that are used to attach the two-part scabbard halves. The mouth of the scabbard is wider than the blades. The Alamang is used by ethnic groups in Sulawesi and Java.
