Alan Haughton

Alan Haughton (* 1950 ) is an English composer, pianist and music performer. He composed mainly for piano .

His Rhythm & Rag pieces are popular. Most of his works are published by the three major publishers ABRSM , Kevin Mayhew Publishers and Oxford University Press .

Career

Haughton learned to play the piano at the age of ten. He spent three years at the Royal Academy of Music in London , one of the leading music institutions. There he won several prizes and gave his first concerts in the 450-seat Duke's Hall . After completing his apprenticeship, he became deputy director of the Hazeldene School in Bedford . In the meantime (2012) he is a recognized and established composer who has released over 60 albums in the three major publishing houses ABRSM , Kevin Mayhew Publishers and Oxford University Press . As musical director he has accompanied or actively participated in many famous works. He has also worked with Sir John Dankworth , Don Rendell , Barbara Thompson , the Pasadena Roof Orchestra and many more.
