Alan Landaker

Alan David Landaker (born March 2, 1946 in Los Angeles , California , United States ) is an American camera technician specializing in video technology. He was awarded three technology Oscar for his achievements.

Life

Landaker, whose five years younger brother Gregg is also active in the film business, came into the industry through their father Harold “Hal” Landaker. In the 1970s, Alan Landaker made a name for himself in the field of video art, which was still largely unknown at the time. Towards the end of the decade, he was given the supervision of the video area for the films I Wanna Hold Your Hand and With a Leg in the Kittchen , before a few years later he made a name for himself with his technical skills in a few Star Trek series of feature films .

Alan Landaker received an Oscar three times in the 1980s for the technical achievements shown there, including twice with his father Hal . The reasoning in 1982: “For the concept (H. Landaker) and the engineering (AD Landaker) of the Burbank Studios' Production Sound Department 24-frame color video system”; the reasoning in 1986: “For the Mark III Camera Drive for motion picture photography” and the reasoning in 1987: “For the development of the Beat System low-frequency cue track for motion picture production sound recording”. Landaker stayed in the film business for a few years until he and his father came to litigation with his former employer, Burbank Studios.
