Albert Gustaf Aristides Edelfelt (born July 27, 1854 on Kiala gård near Porvoo , Finland , † August 18, 1905 in Haikko , Finland) was a Finnish-Swedish painter and graphic artist.

Edelfelt studied painting in Antwerp and Paris , received an award in Paris in 1880 for the painting Ett barns likfärd (funeral ride of a child) and was elected to the Russian Art Academy in 1881 - the Grand Duchy of Finland was then part of the Russian Empire . In 1895 Edelfelt was elected chairman of the Finnish artists' association.

Edelfelt mainly painted scenes from Finnish folk life. Edelfelt also distinguished himself as an illustrator of books. Edelfelt has numerous illustrations of Ensign Stahl by Johan Ludvig Runeberg in particular .
