Albert Gilka

Albert Gilka (born June 15, 1870 in Berlin ; † March 9, 1924 ) was a German spirits manufacturer .

Live and act

After the death of his uncle Hermann, he joined the management of the liqueur factory founded by his great uncle JA Gilka and had a decisive influence on it. After the First World War the company was converted into a stock corporation and he became chairman of the supervisory board . From 1907 until his death he lived in his house built by Alfred Messel at Winklerstrasse 16-18, which has no longer been preserved. He also owned several manors .

In addition to his professional activity, tennis was close to his heart. Kommerzienrat Gilka was a board member of the Rot-Weiß tennis club . He also maintained a garden house on his property, which reached as far as Lake Diana , in which he grew rare flowers. He was buried in the Grunewald cemetery.
