Albert Jan Maat

Albert Jan Maat (born February 8, 1953 in Heino ) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appèl party (CDA). Since September 20, 2013 he has been President of the European Farmers Association .

He was a member of the European Parliament for the Netherlands from 1999 to 2007 and during that time Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (2002 to 2004) and the Committee on International Trade (2007). In particular, he was jointly responsible for the cooperation committees of the European Union with Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as well as for relations with Tajikistan , Turkmenistan and Mongolia . Since 2007 he has been working for the agricultural organization Landen Tuinbouworganisatie (LTO) in the Netherlands.
