Heino is a village in the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands . It belongs to the municipality of Raalte and has 6,820 inhabitants.

Nijenhuis Castle

The beautiful Nijenhuis Castle ( art museum , restored in 2004) is located in Heino . It was first mentioned in 1382, the current building dates from 1680. It was owned by the Barons van Ittersum, the Count Bentinck and the von Pallandt and von Knobelsdorff families . Today it belongs to the province of Overijssel. The former director of the Rotterdam Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen , Dirk Hannema (1896–1984), lived here for a while and left a foundation with his significant art collection of 4,500 pieces, some of which are exhibited here and some in the Museum De Fundatie in Zwolle .
