from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Albert U. Vogel (born February 7, 1940 ) is a retired civil servant and was chairman of the INSEL eV association (initiative for independent life for the disabled) in the Ludwigsburg district until 2015 .

Vogel studied pedagogy and from 1968 to 1969 special education specializing in pedagogy for the disabled. After that he taught as a teacher at various special schools. As a technical school councilor and member of the school management of a private home special school, Vogel played a key role in building the new state home special school for the physically handicapped in Markgröningen, which is now the August Hermann Werner School.

“In 1983 you founded the INSEL eV association to create outpatient housing options for the disabled. In 1989 the first INSEL shared apartment was opened in Markgröningen. This was the first alternative to residential accommodation in Germany. Three young people were given the opportunity to live independently and to organize their everyday lives according to their own wishes and needs. Vogel personally took over the socio-educational support, for which there was no funding at the time ... In addition, there is an office in which five jobs, including three for severely disabled people, have been created. Against the background that until the founding of INSEL eV there was no comparable form of living in the whole of Germany, the idea and the realization were unique. Other associations and municipalities are based on your successes and implement comparable solutions. Through your work and commitment, the life of a person with a disability gains a new quality: self-determination, participation and finally integration are significantly facilitated ”(from the laudation on the retirement of Albert Vogel in 2003 by the responsible state minister Monika Stolz ).

Since 2002 Vogel has been the 2nd chairman of the association "Together eV for people with physical and multiple disabilities in the Ludwigsburg district".
