Alberta Slim
Alberta Slim (born February 2, 1910 as Eric Charles Edwards in Wiltshire , England , † November 26, 2005 in Surrey , British Columbia ) was a British country singer who achieved fame especially in Canada .
Career
Before Alberta Slim was invited to an audition by Columbia Records , he toured Canada with his vaudeville show . His show was special because Slim performed with his elephant Susie (who weighed 3.5 tons). An elephant was something very special for the rural population at the time, so the tickets sold themselves. In addition to Susie the elephant, Slim also owned four dogs.
Between 1938 and 1947 he was regularly heard on radio stations across Canada. In 1949 he achieved his first chart success with When It's Apple Blossom Time In Annapolis Valley . In the following years he was featured in the Billboard country charts with titles such as Waltz Evelina Waltz , You Say I'm A Fool , My Annapolis Valley Home and It's Too Late To Care .
Alberta Slim is one of the most famous hillbilly musicians in Canada.
