Alberto Barrera Tyszka (born February 18, 1960 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan writer and screenwriter.

Life

Alberto Barrera Tyszka studied literature at the Universidad Central de Venezuela , where he later became a lecturer in literature. He is a columnist for El Nacional newspaper and writes for the literary magazine Letras Libres . Barrera Tyszka published five novels (2017), several volumes of short stories and several non-fiction books. He is the screenwriter of a large number of telenovelas produced for the South American market.

Barrera Tyszka was awarded the Herralde Novel Prize in 2006 for the novel La enfermedad . In 2005 he wrote a biography about Hugo Chávez with his partner Christina Marcano and after his death the novel Patria o muerte , which received the Premio Tusquets de Novela in 2015 .
