Alberto Pessoa

Alberto José Pessoa (born April 15, 1919 in Figueira da Foz , † 1985 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese architect.

Career

Pessoa graduated from the Faculdade de Belas-Artes of the University of Lisbon in 1943 with a degree in architecture . As advisor to the building commission of the University of Coimbra , he led the renovation of the central library of the Philosophical Faculty. In 1950 he was first awarded the Prémio Valmor for a house in Restelo . In the same year he returned to Lisbon University as a lecturer for ten years.

In 1975, together with Ruy Jervis Athouguia , Pedro Cid , Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles and António Viana Barreto, he received the Prémio Valmor a second time for the construction of the Gulbenkian Foundation site .

He was a member of the architects collective Iniciativas Culturais Arte e Técnica (ICAT) and one of the directors of the Arquitectura magazine .
