Albin Schmalfuß
Albin Schmalfuß was a German painter.
Life
Schmalfuß attended an apprenticeship as a pattern maker in Plauen and settled as a painter in Leipzig . He was taught by Edmund Michael , a teacher at the agricultural school in Auerbach / Vogtl. , commissioned, under his guidance and in his apartment, to draw all the illustrations for his Guide for Mushroom Friends, which first appeared in July 1895 . The resulting illustrations made Schmalfuß internationally known, as the mushroom guide was widely distributed in numerous editions, including abroad.
