Albrecht II of Mutzschen
Albrecht II von Mutzschen († July 24, 1266 in Löbnitz ) was Bishop of Meissen from 1258 to 1266 .
Albrecht II von Mutzschen came from the von Mutzschen family (later also Motzin , see also Mutzschen ). He was Canon of Meißen and provost of Wurzen. He came to the bishopric during the period of the Interregnum and the Thuringian-Hessian War of Succession .
With his remarks on the date of death, Machatschek distinguishes himself from other authors who assumed a different date of death or even dated the year of death later. He was buried on August 1, 1266 in the Meissen Cathedral. Fragments of his sarcophagus have been preserved. It was discovered in the 18th century and recovered during excavations in 1902. Dating was possible despite the lack of inscriptions. An incised drawing with miter and crook can be seen on the cover plate.
