The Aldegrever fountain by Kord Winter on the southern forecourt of St. Petri in Soest was inaugurated on August 10, 1989. Based on a motif by the engraver and Renaissance painter Heinrich Aldegrever from the series of engravings The Great Wedding Dancers, it shows three musicians: two flutists and a trombonist . At the same time, the fountain roughly denotes the place where the grave of the Renaissance master was located, which according to the biographer Karel van Mander (1548–1606) was in the southern Petri churchyard. In Soest, street names and the Marien Altar from 1525 in St. Maria zur Wiese are reminiscent of Aldegrever's work.
