Alem Katema , partly also listed as Alem Katea / Alem Ketema / Alem Catema or Alam Katma ( German "cosmopolitan city" ) is a place in the Ethiopian in Merhabete ( Amhara region ) with about 14,000 inhabitants.
geography
Alem Katema is located on a plateau of 2300 m . The infrastructure is hardly developed. The capital Addis Ababa is about 180 km further south.
Infrastructure
The population is growing rapidly. In 1994 the place had only 7,000 inhabitants. In 2011 there were already 18,000. In 2012, according to Mayor Esayas, there were 20,000 inhabitants, currently 28,000. The city has a hospital. With the help of the partnership association, two kindergartens and a library were built. Another kindergarten is under construction.
Town twinning
Alem Katema has been twinning with Vaterstetten in Germany since 1994 . Among other things, they implemented the Humboldt Library and the Vaterstetten and Baldham kindergartens . The foundation stone for the construction of a third kindergarten was laid.
