Alerton (formerly Alerton Technologies) is an American manufacturer of building automation systems for heating, ventilation and air conditioning in Redmond, Washington .

Company history

The company was founded in 1981 in Bellevue, Washington by three entrepreneurs. The name of the company is made up of the names of the founders: Al Lucas, Cla ir Jenkins and Ton y Fassbind.

The entry into the market for building automation systems took place through the application of direct digital controls in their products. This technology was overlooked by the major players in this market in the early 1980s. The company developed its own Ibex control protocol , but switched to the license-free BACnet protocol in 1995 . With the introduction of BACnet, the company was the first to implement this protocol for an entire product line in the control industry.

Alerton was taken over by Novar in 2003. As part of the acquisition, Alerton Technologies, Alerton. The Alerton acquisition should represent a growth opportunity for both companies. Novar recognized Alerton as "a pioneer in the development of the BACnet protocol".

Alerton became part of Honeywell in 2005 when parent company Novar was acquired.
