Alessandro Leopardi
Alessandro Leopardi (* around 1466 in Venice ; † around 1523 there) was an Italian architect , sculptor , engineer and goldsmith .
Leopardi first worked on the coin and then turned to bronze casting. In 1492 he cast the huge equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleonis by Andrea del Verrocchio . He later worked with Antonio Lombardo on the tomb of Cardinal Zeno in San Marco (1503-04) and created the ornate bronze plinths for the flagpoles on St. Mark's Square . Leopardi's main work is the Basilica of Santa Giustina in Padua , which was only completed after his death.
