Aletes (son of Hippotes)
Aletes ( Greek Ἀλήτης ), the son of Hippotes , was a Dorian and descendant of Heracles in Greek mythology . He was the father of the Ixion .
Thirty years after the first invasion of Heraclus , Aletes led the Dorians to war, conquered the Corinthian lands and drove out the Sisyphids . Doridas and Hyanthidas transferred the government of the conquered land to him. Aletes now founded Corinth on the site where the city of Ephyra used to be .
Because he misunderstood an oracle, he expelled Melas from Gonousse, who had stood by him in the fight, from the country. He later became aware of the mistake and made him live in Corinth.
Another oracle promised Aletes the government over Attica if Kodros , the Attic king, would remain unharmed in the battle. Kodros found out about the spell and sacrificed his life in order not to surrender Attica to the enemy.
