Alex Arthur (born June 26, 1978 in Edinburgh , Scotland ) is a retired British boxer and standard boom . He was managed by his compatriot Frank Warren and trained by Freddie Roach , among others .

He was unbeaten when he became WBO interim world champion on July 21, 2007 with a technical knockout victory in round 10 over southpaw Koba Gogoladze . In December of the same year he defended this belt unanimously on points against Stephen Foster .

On May 15, 2008 he was named WBO world champion without a fight. However, the belt already lost in his first title defense against Nicky Cook by unanimous decision.
